MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins optioned left-handed reliever after Tuesday's 9-1 win over the A's, making room for left-hander to be activated from the bereavement list to start on Wednesday against Oakland.
Boshers was brought up Friday, when Santiago left the club to attend his grandmother's funeral in Newark, N.J. He made one appearance, allowing one run on a homer, while recording two outs against the Royals on Friday. It was his second appearance of the year, as he also threw 2 1/3 scoreless frames on April 23, only to be optioned back to Rochester after the game.
Santiago will be making his first start since April 26, but wasn't skipped in the rotation and threw his bullpen session while away from the team to be ready for his start.
