Twins recall Duffey, option Slegers to Minors

May 31st, 2018

The Twins announced on Thursday that they've recalled from Triple-A Rochester. The right-hander has gone 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA in 24 innings with 25 strikeouts and seven walks for the Red Wings this year.

In a corresponding move, right-hander -- who pitched 5 1/3 innings in relief for the Twins on Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits -- was optioned to Rochester.

Duffey is back with the big league club for his second stint of the season. He made three appearances in April, giving up eight earned runs and 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings (13.50 ERA). After being in the mix for a rotation spot for much of 2017, Duffey was stretched out in Spring Training to again compete for a starting spot early in camp.

Duffey was called up earlier this year, in part due to the Twins' needs at the time with a taxed bullpen.
