Berrios dominates in seven scoreless for Class A

Right-hander Jose Berrios, the Twins' No. 5 prospect, threw seven scoreless innings Tuesday, as Class A Advanced Fort Myers defeated Bradenton, 4-2.

Berrios, ranked No. 76 on MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects List, struck out nine batters and held Bradenton to one hit and two walks. It was the third time this season he threw at least five scoreless innings and gave up just one hit.

Berrios picked up the victory Tuesday, improving to 7-2. He has won his last six decisions, a streak that dates back to the beginning of May. In the eight starts since he last lost, he has a 1.20 ERA and has struck out 70 batters in 52 1/3 innings.

Overall this season, Berrios leads the Florida State League in victories and his 2.09 ERA is the fifth-best mark in the league. He ranks second with 90 strikeouts in 77 1/3 innings.

Shortstop Jorge Polanco, the Twins' No. 8 prospect, led the Miracle's offense Tuesday. He went 1-for-3 with a home run, a stolen base and a walk. He is hitting .281 with five home runs and seven stolen bases in 64 games this season.
