Swarzak won't need DL stint for ankle sprain

MINNEAPOLIS -- Reliever Anthony Swarzak threw without any issues on Friday and Saturday, and said he's been cleared to make his return after sustaining a sprained right ankle on Tuesday.

Swarzak, who suffered the injury on his last pitch against the Astros on Tuesday, said he ran around on Friday without any problems and tested it again in bullpen sessions on Friday and Saturday.

Swarzak also simulated coming off the mound to field a ground ball to make sure his ankle was fine, and he reported everything went well and that he won't need a trip to the 15-day disabled list.

"The ankle is doing good," Swarzak said before Saturday's game against the Royals. "Yesterday, I took a really good step forward and feel pretty good today. So no need for the DL. I ran around and threw and everything is OK."
