Nolasco could be activated soon

HOUSTON -- The Twins got encouraging news on right-hander Ricky Nolasco, who could be activated in the coming days.

Nolasco finished his rehab assignment Sunday at Class A Cedar Rapids. In 5 2/3 innings, he allowed three runs.

"[He's] supposedly fine," said Twins manager Ron Gardenhire. "The best his arm's felt in a long, long time. The ball was coming out of his hand good. Got through his pitches and innings and he should be ready to go."

Nolasco was placed on the disabled list with right elbow soreness July 8, retroactive to July 7. Entering Monday, he had missed 29 games.

No date has been set for Nolasco's return to the big club.
