Twins sign second-round Draft pick Slegers

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins announced on Friday the signing of fifth-round Draft pick pitcher Aaron Slegers.

Slegers was at Target Field a day earlier to watch Thursday's matchup with the Royals. At the time, general manager Terry Ryan noted they were just waiting on the results of Slegers' medical, but noted they had reached an agreement with the right-hander.

"Slegers is signed and he's on his way to [Rookie League] Elizabethton," Ryan said.

Slegers, who is 6-foot-9, 250-pounds, was 9-2 with a 2.04 ERA in 18 starts at Indiana University.

The Twins also signed their second-round pick, pitcher Ryan Eades out of LSU, earlier this week. Eades struck out 78 in 100 innings and posted a 2.79 ERA for the Tigers. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound right hander also logged an 8-1 record.

Minnesota has now come to terms with 26 of its 40 picks. Of the 26 signings, 24 are among the club's top 25 picks.
