Designate Stauffer and Option Polanco

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced tonight that they will recall right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin from Triple-A Rochester prior to Friday night's game at Texas. Tonkin, who will be making third stint with the Twins this season, has made a total of 12 appearances for the Red Wings posting a 1.54 ERA (11.2 IP, 2 ER) with 16 strikeouts and just two walks.

To make room on the 25-man roster, the Twins will designate right-handed pitcher Tim Stauffer for release or assignment. Stauffer, who was signed as a free agent this offseason, appeared in 13 games this season.

Additionally, the Twins have optioned infielder Jorge Polanco to Double-A Chattanooga. The Twins will make a corresponding roster move prior to Friday night's game.
