Here are three interesting items from around the big leagues on Wednesday …
• Pitching in San Francisco, Rockies right-hander Tyler Chatwood worked eight scoreless frames and picked up the win in a 2-0 decision. In 13 road starts this season, Chatwood is 8-1 with a 1.69 ERA. In Rockies history, the lowest road ERA (minimum 10 road starts) previously had been Jhoulys Chacín's 2.44 in 2013. In the live-ball era, Chatwood's 1.69 road ERA ranks tied for the 26th lowest with Mort Cooper (1942), Ron Guidry ('78) and Vern Ruhle ('80). The 2.18 difference between Chatwood's overall ERA (3.87) and his road ERA stands as one of the biggest (on the positive side) since '20. Among pitchers with at least 10 road starts in a season, the only two differences that were wider than Chatwood's: Kyle Davies' 2.61 in 2009 and Ike Delock's 2.27 in 1960.
• In the D-backs' 3-0 win over the Nationals, Arizona second baseman Jean Segura went 3-for-3 with a stolen base to become the 13th second baseman in history to produce a 200-hit, 40-double, 20-homer line. And with 31 swipes this season, Segura joined Craig Biggio and Alfonso Soriano as the only three among the 13 to also have as many as 30 stolen bases. Segura and Luis Gonzalez in 1999 (206 hits, 45 homers, 26 steals) are the only players in D-backs history to post a 200-40-20 line.

• Robinson Canó hit his 36th home run of the year, and Kyle Seager chipped in with his 30th, as the Mariners defeated the Astros, 12-4. With those two trailing Nelson Cruz (41) for the team lead, the Mariners have three 30-homer players in a season for the third time in franchise history. In 1996, the trio came in the form of Jay Buhner, Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez. A year later, Buhner and Griffey remained, with Paul Sorrento stepping in as the third member. Cano's three-run homer in the first pushed his season tallies against the Astros to nine long balls and 25 RBIs. Only one other player -- Darryl Strawberry, with 10 homers and 27 RBIs in 1991 -- had previously posted numbers as high against Houston in a season. Cano is the first Mariners player to reach those homer and RBI tallies against a single opponent in a season.
