Umpires' review confirms Adams' hit as foul

PITTSBURGH -- The Cardinals' Matt Adams blasted a ball out of PNC Park on Saturday night, but following a review of one minute and 15 seconds, it was confirmed as nothing more than a long foul ball.

The umpires, led by crew chief Brian Gorman, chose to review the towering hit over the right-field stands at the urging of Cardinals manager Mike Matheny. The video confirmed the on-field ruling of a foul ball, as there was clear separation between the path of the ball and the foul pole.

Adams continued his at-bat against Edinson Volquez after the short delay and ended up fouling out with a runner on first to end the third inning.
