University of Wisconsin men's basketball team to be honored at Miller Park on Friday, May 9

2014 Final Four Team will be Recognized on the Field During Pregame as Brewers Take on Yankees

The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team will be honored on the field prior to the Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Yankees game on Friday, May 9 at Miller Park. Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan will lead the program's players and staff on the field for pregame recognition and a ceremonial first pitch. The on-field recognition will begin at approximately 6:50 p.m., so fans will want to arrive and be in their seats early (game time is 7:10 p.m.).

"On behalf of the Milwaukee Brewers, we congratulate the Badgers men's basketball team for a terrific season and an exciting trip to the Final Four," said Doug Melvin, Brewers President of Baseball Operations - General Manager. "Bo Ryan and his team provided great excitement throughout Wisconsin and they represented our state extraordinarily well."

The Badgers posted a 30-8 record (.789) during the 2013-14 season and advanced to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000. The Final Four appearance marked the school's third-ever trip to the Final Four (won national championship in 1941 and reached semi-finals in 2000). Overall, Wisconsin won 30 games for the third time in school history.

"We'd like to thank the Brewers for inviting us out to Miller Park," said Ryan. "It will be an honor to be on the field and participate in the pregame festivities. I'm going to have to warm up the old shortstop arm, those Major League Baseball fields are a bit bigger than ones I grew up on. But it will be a fun night."

In addition to the team being honored, The University of Wisconsin Marching Band will be playing near the Home Plate Gate before the game as well as performing the national anthem.

Tickets for the Friday night game are still available at the Miller Park Box Office, by visiting Brewers.com or by calling (414) 902-4000 or 1-800-933-7890.
