V-Mart fine after cramping up in Game 3

DETROIT -- The sight of Victor Martinez limping back to the Tigers' dugout Tuesday night after his ninth-inning single raised serious concerns about his status for the rest of the American League Championship Series.

The sight of Martinez taking batting practice and swinging for the fences largely put those concerns to rest.

"Good, no problems," Martinez answered when asked how he's feeling.

Martinez similarly downplayed the injury after Game 3, calling it a "little cramp" in his left quadriceps. Tigers manager Jim Leyland took him at his word.

Any sight of a leg injury raises initial concerns about Martinez, given the knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 2011 season. He was never a fast runner by any stretch of the imagination, but the knee surgery slowed him further once he came back this season.
