Victorino starts physical activity after bout with flu
BOSTON -- Red Sox right fielder Shane Victorino continues to receive treatment on his strained right hamstring, which landed him on the disabled list retroactive to March 30.
Manager John Farrell said before Monday's game against the Rangers that Victorino's flu symptoms are subsiding and that he's begun some physical activity.
"That's been delayed because of how he's felt from the flu, but he's starting to feel better." Farrell said. "The flu symptoms are slowing. We are still trying to keep him away from everyone else for obvious reasons."
Victorino was at Fenway Park on Friday to celebrate the Red Sox 2013 World Series championship and collect his ring.
Farrell expects to get a better idea of how Victorino is feeling physically near the end of the week. After that, he'll decide what the right fielder's next step will be.
"Come the end of the week, we'll likely start to ramp things up more," Farrell said. "We'll get a better read on a projected time for a rehab assignment."
