Dickerson needs votes to secure All-Star start

Rays designated hitter makes move atop leaderboard in latest Ballot update

ST. PETERSBURG -- Corey Dickerson gained ground in his bid to turn strong first half into a starting spot in the 2017 All-Star Game preseneted by MasterCard, on July 11 in Miami. In the latest Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot update, released on Tuesday, the Rays slugger moved up from fourth to third in voting for American League DH.
The top five position players at first base, second, shortstop, third, catcher and DH were announced in the latest update, while the top 15 outfielders were announced. Dickerson was the only Rays player among the leaders.

Ahead of Dickerson in the voting to start the Midsummer Clasic are of the Mariners with 863,549 votes and of the Yankees (689,918). Dickerson has 668,702 votes, just ahead of of the Indians (605,454).
Dickerson is having an All-Star season. Heading into Tuesday night's action against the White Sox, Dickerson was hitting .328 with 14 home runs, 31 RBIs and a .959 OPS.
Fans may cast votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 29, at 11:59 p.m. ET. On smartphones and tablets, fans can also access the ballot via the MLB.com At Bat and MLB.com Ballpark mobile apps. Vote up to five times in any 24-hour period for a maximum of 35 ballots cast.
Following the announcement of the 2017 All-Star starters, reserves and pitchers, fans should return to MLB.com and cast their 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote for the final player on each league's All-Star roster. Then on Tuesday, July 11, while watching the 2017 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard live on FOX, fans may visit MLB.com to submit their choices for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet with the 2017 MLB All-Star Game MVP Vote.
