Wash makes it through his walk

DENVER -- Manager Ron Washington left the Rangers' dugout at about 2:15 p.m. to begin a walk, not sure what to expect in the mile-high altitude. His goal was to walk 10 laps around the periphery of Coors Field and he made it.

"When I first went out there, I thought I would only be able to do half of what I did," he said. "And then when I hit that halfway mark, I felt like I had enough. I was worried about my wind, not my legs. My wind hung in there.

"When I finished five, I said, 'I'm gonna go six.' When I finished six, I said, 'I'm gonna go seven.' Got to seven and said, 'I'm gonna go 10. Get my normal work in.' I felt good at the end. I was waiting for it. I said, 'Soon as it hit me, I'm going to stop.' But it didn't."
