Weiner's statement on Ryan Braun

MLBPA executive director urges all to reserve judgment

NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball Players Association Executive Director Michael Weiner, who was traveling to Latin America on Monday to meet with active Union members, today, upon his arrival in Venezuela, issued the following statement regarding Ryan Braun.

"Our Joint Drug Agreement is designed to protect a player from a rush to judgment before he can challenge a reported positive test result. Fairness dictates that Ryan Braun be treated no differently. I urge all to reserve judgment on this matter until the JDA's process has played itself out."

Because of the confidential nature of the program and restrictions set forth in the JDA, the Union will have no further public comment on this matter.
