Baseball fans with a preference for day games and starting pitching are in for a treat today, thanks to a full slate of Major League games featuring five matinees and several aces set to toe the rubber.
The Yankees and Rockies get things started with an afternoon matchup at Coors Field, followed by starts from the Nationals' Stephen Strasburg, the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw, the Giants' Johnny Cueto, the Mets' Noah Syndergaard and the White Sox's Chris Sale.

Here's what to watch for today in the Majors (all times ET):
Strasburg tries to stay unbeaten: CHC@WAS, 4:05 p.m.
Strasburg enters unbeaten in 13 starts this year, and he's only the third pitcher since 2000 to start a season 10-0. His 10 wins are tied with Sale and Cubs ace Jake Arrieta for the most in MLB. Strikeouts have been one of the keys to Strasburg's success this season, and he's recorded at least 10 in four of his last five outings. This will be the first time the Cubs have seen Strasburg since August 2013. Jason Hammel starts for the Cubs, who lead MLB with a 44-19 record.
Stat that matters: Hammel is 9-0 with a 3.16 ERA in 12 career starts against the Nationals, his 9-0 record the most wins without a loss by any active pitcher against a single opponent.

Kershaw looks to keep rolling: LAD@ARI, 3:40 p.m.
Kershaw enters today's start against the D-backs with wins in his last seven decisions. Kershaw has been dominant since Opening Day, and he leads MLB in ERA (1.52), WHIP (0.65), strikeouts (122) and innings pitched (100 2/3). Look for Kershaw to once again give the Dodgers bullpen a lighter workload, as he's pitched at least eight innings in over half of his 13 outings this year. The D-backs will also have a left-handed starter in Patrick Corbin.
Stat that matters: The Dodgers are 12-1 this season with Kershaw on the mound.

Cueto seeks double-digit wins: MIL@SF, 3:45 p.m.
Cueto goes for win No. 10 as he toes the rubber for the first-place Giants. He's enjoyed plenty of recent success against the Brewers, going 7-0 with a 1.73 ERA over 52 innings in his last seven starts against them. Cueto has been a boost to the Giants rotation in his first year with the club, pitching three complete games over his previous nine outings. Jimmy Nelson, who leads the Brewers with eight quality starts, gets the ball for Milwaukee.
Stat that matters: Giants first baseman Brandon Belt has reached base safely in his last 25 games at AT&T Park.

Thor goes for Mets: PIT@NYM, 7:10 p.m.
The Mets will turn to Syndergaard as they look to snap a four-game losing skid when they host the Pirates. Syndergaard has struck out eight or more in seven of his 12 starts this season, including three double-digit strikeout performances, and he's won his last four decisions. Citi Field has been a haven for Syndergaard, as he's not allowed an earned run in his last 17 1/3 innings at the ballpark. Meanwhile, Jeff Locke takes the hill for the Pirates as the lefty looks to rebound from an 11-run outing in his last start.
Stat that matters: The Pirates are 10-1 against the Mets in their last 11 meetings.

Sox turn to Sale : DET@CWS, 8:10 p.m.
The White Sox hand the ball to Sale in the rubber match against the Tigers as Chicago looks to turn things around and get back to .500. Sale seems like the right man for the job, as he's the first American League pitcher to reach 10 wins this year. After a fast start, the White Sox have dropped 23 of their last 32 games. On the other hand, the Tigers are trending up and are 8-3 in their last 11 games. Mike Pelfrey starts for the Tigers, who beat Sale in his only other outing against Detroit this year.
Stat that matters:
Sale needs one strikeout to tie Gary Peters (1,098) for seventh place on the franchise's all-time list, and five strikeouts to tie John Danks (1,102) for sixth place.
