White Sox agree to terms on one-year contracts with Gordon Beckham and Alejandro De Aza

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with infielder Gordon Beckham and outfielder Alejandro De Aza, avoiding arbitration with both players.

Under terms of the agreements, Beckham will receive $2.925 million in 2013 and De Aza $2.075 million.

Beckham, 26, hit .234 (123-525) with 16 home runs, 60 RBI and 62 runs scored over 151 games in his fourth season with the White Sox.  He established career highs in games, hits, homers and runs scored.  Beckham owned a .9899 fielding percentage (7 E/698 TC) at second base, the second-best mark in club history behind Nellie Fox (.9901 in 1962).

De Aza, 28, batted .281 (147-524) with 29 doubles, nine home runs, 50 RBI, 81 runs scored and 26 stolen bases over 131 games.  He established career highs in virtually every offensive category in his first full season with the White Sox.  De Aza’s four leadoff homers tied for the fifth-most in franchise history and were the most since Ray Durham hit a team-record six in 2001.

The White Sox have no remaining arbitration-eligible players.
