White Sox agree to terms with Gordon Beckham and Alejandro De Aza

CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with infielder Gordon Beckham and outfielder Alejandro De Aza, avoiding arbitration with both players.

Under terms of the agreements, Beckham will receive $4.175 million in base salary in 2014, while De Aza will receive $4.25 million.

Beckham, 27, hit .267 (99-371) with 22 doubles, five home runs and 24 RBI over 103 games in 2013, his fifth with the White Sox. He also appeared in eight games with Class AAA Charlotte during an injury rehabilitation assignment from May 18-June 1 following surgery to repair a hook of the hamate fracture in his left hand.

Beckham owns the second (.9899 in 2012) and third (.9889 in 2011) highest fielding percentages by a second baseman in White Sox history, trailing only Nellie Fox's .9901 mark in 1962.

De Aza, 29, hit .264 (160-607) with 27 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, 62 RBI, 84 runs scored and 20 stolen bases over 153 games last season, his fourth in the White Sox organization. He established career highs in hits, home runs, RBI, runs scored and games.

De Aza appeared in 107 games in center field and 79 in left in 2013. His eight leadoff home runs with the White Sox are the third-most in franchise history behind Ray Durham (20) and Tim Raines (9).

The White Sox have no remaining arbitration-eligible players.
