White Sox agree to terms with outfielder Dayan Viciedo

The Chicago White Sox and outfielder Dayan Viciedo have agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.8-million contract, avoiding arbitration.

Viciedo, 24, hit .265 (117-441) with 23 doubles, three triples, 14 home runs, 56 RBI and 43 runs scored in 124 games with the White Sox in 2013, his second full season with the club. He ranked third among American League outfielders with 12 assists.

Viciedo hit .255 (129-505) and established career highs with 25 home runs and 78 RBI over 147 games in 2012, his first full season in the major leagues.

Since 2012, Viciedo ranks second among AL outfielders with 25 assists, trailing only Kansas City's Alex Gordon (34).

Viciedo is a career .264 hitter (304-1,152) with 51 doubles, 45 home runs and 153 RBI in 338 games over four seasons (2010-13) with the White Sox.

The White Sox originally signed Viciedo as a free agent on December 12, 2008.

Chicago has two remaining arbitration-eligible players: infielder Gordon Beckham and outfielder Alejandro De Aza.
