White Sox and Giants hold social showdown

Two Winners Receive All-Expense Paid Trip for Two to Opposing Team's Ballpark Through, "#SocialSeries," Contest

The San Francisco Giants are teaming up with the Chicago White Sox to offer fans the chance to be their respective team's #SocialSeries correspondent, winning an all-expense trip for two to the opposing team's city and ballpark. Fans can enter this contest with one Instagram or Twitter post including #SocialSeries, @WhiteSox, @SFGiants and an explanation of why they should be their team's #SocialSeries correspondent.

The #SocialSeries correspondents will have the opportunity to participate in behind-the-scenes activities. In addition to the all-expense paid trip for two, the two winners and their guests will go on a tour of the city and receive a tour of the ballpark. The contest is the first of its kind between Major League Baseball teams. The Giants and White Sox are considered two of the league's digital and social media leaders.

"We know our fans are some of the most creative and highly engaged fans in all of professional sports," said Bryan Sabean, Giants director of digital media. "We're excited to join forces with the White Sox and send one of our fans to represent the Giants in the Windy City."

"As the first two MLB teams with public social media spaces, we thought the series is a great way to showcase the #SoxSocial Lounge and @Cafe, digitally connect our fan bases and offer the correspondents a unique, behind-the-scenes social experience," said Nicole Saunches, Chicago White Sox director of mass communications.

The contest to be the Giants' #SocialSeries correspondent at the June 17-18 series in Chicago launched May 12 and closes on May 31.  The White Sox #SocialSeries correspondent at the August 12-13 series in San Francisco will begin on Tuesday, July 1, and will close on Sunday, July 20.

There also will be additional social media contests and promotions during the series as part of the fan experience.

The clubs will choose the winners and notify them within a week of each contest closing. The Giants contest closes on May 31, and the White Sox contest closes on July 20.  Official rules and additional information are available at mlb.mlb.com/socialseries.
