White Sox Announce 2017 Draft Signings

The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with 31 of their 40 selections from the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, including third baseman Jake Burger, first baseman Gavin Sheets and outfielder Luis Gonzalez, their top three picks.

The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with 31 of their 40 selections from the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, including third baseman Jake Burger, first baseman Gavin Sheets and outfielder Luis Gonzalez, their top three picks.

Sheets, the son of former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Larry Sheets, batted .317 with 20 home runs, 81 RBI and a .428 on-base percentage in 61 games as a junior with Wake Forest in 2017.

Gonzalez batted .361 (79-219) with 22 doubles, eight homers, 42 RBI, 62 runs scored and a .500 on-base percentage as a junior with New Mexico last season.

Right-handed pitchers Lincoln Henzman (fourth round) and Kade McClure (sixth) and outfielder Logan Taylor (16th) from Louisville and catcher Evan Skoug (seventh) from TCU, who currently are participating in the College World Series, remain unsigned.
