The Chicago White Sox have announced an exclusive Jim Thome bobblehead as the weekend package premium item for SoxFest 2017 - sponsored by Beggars Pizza, Comcast SportsNet, Guaranteed Rate and WGN-TV. SoxFest 2017 will be held at the Hilton Chicago on Friday, January 27 through Sunday, January 29, 2017.
The SoxFest 2017 bobblehead will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Thome's 500th career home run. The 426-foot homer marked the first White Sox player to reach the milestone as well as the only player in MLB history to join the 500 club with a walk-off victory. Thome was the 23rd player and 10th lefty in baseball history to accomplish the feat. Since then, only four have joined these ranks. He remains the fourth fastest to reach the historic marker in at-bat No. 6, 809 - behind Mark McGwire (5,487), Babe Ruth (5,800) and Harmon Killebrew (6,671).
The only way to receive the exclusive SoxFest 2017 Jim Thome bobblehead is by securing a two-night SoxFest hotel package at whitesox.com/SoxFest. SoxFest hotel packages at the Hilton Chicago are $310 for a two-night stay (price does not include applicable taxes, fees and costs for weekend passes). Fans who book hotel packages are eligible to also purchase up to four SoxFest weekend passes. Weekend passes will be available for $40 for each adult and for $10 for each kid (ages 4 to 13). The kid passes will include access to children-only events throughout the weekend, including children's autograph sessions, kids-only question-and-answer seminars, special events in the interactive play zones and much more.
Fans will have the opportunity to have the bobblehead signed by Thome during SoxFest, as he is scheduled to attend the event. Current and former players as well as coaches scheduled to attend SoxFest will be announced at a later date. In addition, individual passes to SoxFest will be on sale at a later date.
Last year's event included current and former White Sox players signing more than 16,000 autographs and posing for nearly 3,500 photos with fans. In addition to seminars and autograph sessions, both current and former team members played games against fans in the interactive space, surprised fans with unique experiences and more.
