White Sox Announce Two Roster Moves

CHICAGO - Prior to today's series opener vs. the Cubs at Wrigley Field, the Chicago White Sox recalled infielder Tyler Saladino from Class AAA Charlotte and sent right-handed pitcher Nate Jones to Class A Winston-Salem on an injury rehabilitation assignment.

Saladino, 25, takes the roster spot of right-hander Scott Carroll, who was optioned to Charlotte following yesterday's game.

Saladino is hitting .255 (50-196) with seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, 29 RBI, 22 walks and 25 stolen bases (27 attempts) over 52 games with the Knights this season. He has appeared in 34 games at shortstop, 14 as the designated hitter, two at third base, and one each at first and second. Saladino, who ranks third in the International League in stolen bases, is hitting .323 (10-31) with two doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI over eight games in July.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Saladino originally was selected by the White Sox in seventh round of the 2010 draft out of Oral Roberts University. The San Diego native is a career .261 hitter (520-1,991) with 100 doubles, 22 triples, 41 home runs, 251 RBI and 111 stolen bases in 541 games over six seasons (2010-15) in the White Sox organization. He owns a 78.7 career stolen base percentage.

Saladino has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 18.

Jones, 29, has not pitched in the major leagues since April 2014 after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow on July 29, 2014. He is 12-5 with a 3.55 ERA (59 ER/149.2 IP) and 154 strikeouts in 137 career games over four seasons (2012-15) with the Sox.
