Fulmer sent to Minor League camp after start

No. 1 prospect gains confidence, experience in spring outings

March 27th, 2016

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Carson Fulmer allowed three runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings during the White Sox 5-4 loss to the Dodgers Saturday night at Camelback Ranch, and then the White Sox No. 1 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was reassigned to Minor League camp.
Fulmer will open the 2016 season as part of Double-A Birmingham's rotation, but has a good shot to help the White Sox during this same campaign. His first big league Spring Training was an impressive one and a valuable learning period.
"It's an experience I definitely won't forget, and hopefully I have many more to come," said Fulmer, who struck out four and walked three Saturday. "Each time I go out, I feel more and more comfortable.
"I did learn a few pitches this Spring Training. I'm trying to trust all of my pitches, no matter what the count is."

A new cutter and a new grip on the changeup were part of the additions/changes Fulmer made to his repertoire over the past six weeks, under the guidance of pitching coach Don Cooper. He utilized the cutter once again Saturday night and worked in four or five changeups, getting "some good flinches."
Three of Fulmer's five Cactus League appearances came against the defending World Series champions from Kansas City.
"I'm definitely confident," Fulmer said. "You just have to know that your stuff works at this level.
"That's just the comfort level of being put out on this stage and facing this caliber of hitters. It's huge. It definitely gave me good experience."
With the Fulmer move, the White Sox have 36 players remaining in Major League camp: 16 pitchers, three catchers, nine infielders and eight outfielders.
