The White Sox claimed right-hander Juan Minaya off waivers from the Astros on Wednesday. He's been assigned to Triple-A Charlotte.
Minaya went 1-3 with a 3.91 ERA and 19 strikeouts over 17 relief appearances with Triple-A Fresno before being designated for assignment on June 20.
Minaya was 1-0 with a 2.80 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 35 appearances last season between Double-A Corpus Christi and Fresno.
