The Chicago White Sox have claimed right-handed pitcher Juan Minaya off waivers from Houston.

The Chicago White Sox have claimed right-handed pitcher Juan Minaya off waivers from Houston.
 
Minaya, 25, went 1-3 with a 3.91 ERA (11 ER/25.1 IP) and 19 strikeouts over 17 relief appearances with Class AAA Fresno this season before being designated for assignment on June 20. He will be assigned to Class AAA Charlotte.
 
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Minaya, a native of Maimon, Dominican Republic, was added to Houston's 40-man roster on November 20, 2015 after combining to go 1-0 with a 2.80 ERA (17 ER/54.2 IP) and 59 strikeouts over 35 relief appearances last season between Class AA Corpus Christi and Fresno.
 
He originally was signed by the Astros as a 17-year-old, non-drafted free agent on September 3, 2008.
 
The White Sox 40-man roster increases to 40.
