White Sox Hit Home Stretch Ahead in Final Vote Standings with #targetsale Campaign

Starting this Evening's Game vs. Boston, Sox Ace Chris Sale Seeks Third Career All-Star Selection Team Efforts Have Featured Video Messages, Social Media Campaign and Special Watch/Vote Parties.

CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox #TargetSale campaign to send Chris Sale to his third All-Star Game through Major League Baseball's Final Vote has the lefty ace in first place in American League balloting. The White Sox have partnered with the Washington Nationals to encourage fans to also vote for Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon in the National League Final Vote contest. This is the 11th time since 2002 that a White Sox player is in the running for MLB's Final Vote, and Sox fans now have until 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 to vote for Sale at whitesox.com/vote or mlb.com/vote.

The White Sox #TargetSale campaign has included several specially-created video features with players, coaches and staff; a social media campaign with unique #TargetSale memes and GIFs; along with a series of watch and vote parties at Beggars Pizza and Hooters locations across Chicagoland this evening as Sale takes the mound vs. Boston. #TargetSale watch/vote party details, along with more information on the Final Vote campaign can be found at:  whitesox.com/TargetSale

Sale is attempting to become the first White Sox pitcher to make three consecutive All-Star teams since Jack McDowell in 1991-93. Sale was the winning pitcher at the 2013 Midsummer Classic at New York's Citi Field. He would rank among the AL leaders in every category with the required minimum IP.  Sale looks to join teammates rookie first baseman Jose Abreu (1st All-Star appearance) and shortstop Alexei Ramirez (1st All-Star appearance).

White Sox fans can vote to send Sale to the All-Star Game by texting A5 to 89269 in addition to voting online at whitesox.com/vote or mlb.com/vote, and starting tomorrow by using the hashtag #TargetSale on social media networks.

In 2005, White Sox fans voted Scott Podsednik to the All-Star Game through the Final Vote ballot, in 2006 A.J. Pierzynski was voted onto the A.L. team and Sox captain Paul Konerko garnered a spot on the A.L. roster in 2011 via the Final Vote.
