Lindstrom throws a bullpen session

CLEVELAND -- Matt Lindstrom threw a 30-pitch bullpen on Saturday and then did PFP work in the outfield, as he moves closer to a rehab return from surgery to repair the outside tendon in his left ankle that he injured on May 19 while closing against the Royals.

Lindstrom threw all four of his pitches and intends to throw another bullpen while at home over the All-Star break. He has a third bullpen lined up in Chicago when the White Sox return to action on Friday and hopes to soon begin a Minor League rehab assignment.

"No problems with my ankle, and even did some comebackers and covering first out in the outfield. So, it was a good day," Lindstrom said. "[White Sox pitching coach Don] Cooper was even pleasantly surprised.

"He asked me what I wanted to take out of the bullpen session, and I said, 'My mechanics.' I wanted to make sure they are fluid. Obviously, I want to throw strikes. But I think it was even better than expected. It was nice.

"It's going to take another couple of weeks to probably allow my ankle to continue to heal from all the workouts and stuff I've been doing. I'm encouraged."
