Extra days could be given to starting pitchers

Bassitt may be inserted into rotation on Wednesday against A's

CLEVELAND -- Scott Carroll will return to the starting rotation and pitch Sunday's series finale against the Indians for the White Sox at Progressive Field. Hector Noesi and John Danks will open a four-game home set against the A's next week, and Chris Bassitt could slide into his second career start Wednesday night against the A's.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura didn't indicate that the White Sox would be using a six-man rotation for the remainder of the season, but he did suggest that Chris Sale and Jose Quintana could get an extra day of rest after starting Friday and Saturday, respectively, against the Indians.

"We'll see basically what happens tonight and then wait for Wednesday and Thursday," Ventura said. "We can make an adjustment if we want."
