White Sox place Zach Putman on disabled list; recall Andre Rienzo from Class AAA Charlotte

MINNEAPOLIS - Prior to tonight's game at Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Zach Putnam on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation and recalled right-hander Andre Rienzo from Class AAA Charlotte.

Putnam, 27, is 3-2 with a 2.35 ERA (10 ER/38.1 IP), three saves and a team-leading 12 holds in 42 appearances this season, his first with the White Sox after signing as a free agent on November 27, 2013.

Rienzo, 26, went 4-5 with a 5.87 ERA (40 ER/61.1 IP) in 14 games (11 starts) with the White Sox from April 19-July 12. He also has gone 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA (8 ER/20.0 IP) and 17 strikeouts in five games (four starts) with the Knights in 2014.
