GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The White Sox reassigned catcher Zack Collins, right-handed pitcher Spencer Adams, outfielder Courtney Hawkins and left-handed pitchers Brian Clark and David Holmberg to Minor League camp prior to Friday's Cactus League game with the Brewers.
With the moves, the White Sox have 54 players remaining in Major League camp: 29 pitchers, five catchers, 12 infielders and eight outfielders. Collins, who turned 22 one week before the start of Spring Training, ranks as the No. 81 prospect overall per MLBPipeline.com and the No. 6 prospect for the White Sox. He is the team's catcher of the future and impressed with his work behind the plate during his short time in camp.
Collins, who was the team's top pick at No. 10 overall in the 2016 Draft, went 3-for-8 in seven Cactus League contests.

"He got here, was real comfortable with the pitchers right out of the chute," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "He started receiving a little easier. I think [Minor League catching coordinator John Orton] and [bullpen catcher] Chief [Mark Salas] were talking about how at the beginning, he was snapping at pitches, and all of the sudden he started receiving pitches.

"Good position behind the plate, was sticking a lot of pitches during the games he was playing in. He was standing in the box with a lot of comfort. He's a very confident hitter. I thought he handled game-calling pretty well too. I know it's a short snippet, but we really liked what we saw."
The plan for Collins is to get more at-bats on the Minor League side, with his start to the season most likely coming at Class A Winston-Salem. Omar Narvaez, Geovany Soto and Kevan Smith should get much of the remaining time behind the plate at big league camp.
Adams, 20, ranks 11th among White Sox prospects, while Clark, 23, checks in at No. 29. Hawkins, 23, was the team's top pick in the 2012 Draft. He has struggled with staying healthy and making contact (540 strikeouts) over the last four years, but came into camp in good physical condition.
"Right now, he's going to work out with the Double-A squad," Renteria said of Hawkins. "We want him to get some more at-bats, try to zone into the strike zone a little bit more, see if we can eliminate a little bit more the swing and miss.
"A lot of that has to do more with swinging at pitches out of the zone. He worked very, very hard here in camp, and we were happy with the way he was going about his business."
