Prior to tonight's series opener at Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox returned right-handed pitcher Jake Petricka from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day disabled list.
Petricka, 29, takes the roster spot of right-hander Brad Goldberg, who was optioned to Charlotte following last night's game. He was placed on the disabled list on April 6 with a strained right lat and made three relief appearances with Charlotte on a rehab assignment from June 2-7 (2 ER/4.0 IP).
Petricka, 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, threw 1.0 scoreless IP on April 4 vs Detroit in his only appearance of the 2017 season. He has gone 6-10 with a 3.29 ERA (56 ER/153.1 IP) over 155 career relief appearances with the White Sox from 2013-17.
