White Sox reinstate Leury García from the disabled list

Prior to today's series finale vs. the Cleveland Indians, the Chicago White Sox returned infielder/outfielder Leury García from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day disabled list. Garcia takes the roster spot of Melky Cabrera, who earlier today was traded to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for two minor-league pitchers.

Prior to today's series finale vs. the Cleveland Indians, the Chicago White Sox returned infielder/outfielder Leury García from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day disabled list. Garcia takes the roster spot of Melky Cabrera, who earlier today was traded to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for two minor-league pitchers.
 
García, 26, has been on the disabled list since June 19 (retroactive to June 16) with a sprained finger on his left hand. He appeared in three rehab games between the Arizona Rookie League White Sox and Charlotte.
 
García is hitting .298 (54-181) with nine doubles, one triple, six home runs, 22 RBI, 28 runs scored and a .345 on-base percentage in 56 games with the White Sox this season. He has appeared in 46 games (43 starts) in center field, four (two) in left, two (two) at shortstop and two (one) at second base.
