White Sox return Frankie Montas to Class AA Birmingham

CHICAGO -- Following tonight's game vs. Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox returned right-handed pitcher Frankie Montas to Class AA Birmingham.

Montas, 22, was recalled from Birmingham and designated as the 26th man for today's doubleheader vs. the Royals, but did not pitch. Montas is 2-1 with a 2.47 ERA (20 ER/73.0 IP), one shutout, 62 strikeouts and a .205 opponents average (53-258) over 15 starts (seven quality) with Birmingham this season. 

Following the move, the White Sox active roster returns to 25.
