White Sox sign Omogrosso to Minors deal

CHICAGO -- The White Sox signed right-handers Brian Omogrosso and Dylan Axelrod and to a Minor League contract on Tuesday.

Omogrosso, 29, appeared in 29 games for the White Sox over the past two seasons. He was solid in 2012, posting a 2.57 ERA in 17 appearances, before seeing his ERA swell to 9.37 in 12 games last season.

He also made 10 appearances for Triple-A Charlotte in 2013, posting a 4.91 ERA.

Omogrosso was originally selected by the White Sox in the sixth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

Axelrod went 4-11 with a 5.68 ERA in 30 games (20 starts) for the White Sox last season. The 28-year-old, who was drafted by the Padres in the 30th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft and signed as a free agent with the White Sox in 2009, is 7-13 with a 5.36 ERA in 48 career games (30 starts) for Chicago.
