The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with international free agent Sydney Pimentel.
Pimentel, 16, is a 6-foot, 170-pound, switch-hitting shortstop from Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic.
"Sydney is a natural shortstop with a physical frame," said Marco Paddy, special assistant to the general manager, international operations. "He possess a solid bat with surprising power from both sides of the plate."
Pimentel is the second player signed by the White Sox during the international period that began July 2. The White Sox signing of catcher Jefferson Mendoza was announced Sunday.
