ANAHEIM -- A number of White Sox injury updates were provided Friday by general manager Rick Hahn and manager Robin Ventura.
Austin Jackson : The slick-fielding center fielder has not had his follow-up MRI since surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear in his left knee. Hahn said that MRI could take place in the next few days but doesn't have a prognosis on Jackson.
"He had obviously repair done to the meniscus and some bone marrow edema there, some bruising in the bone that needs to heal, as well, and that's going to take a little time," Hahn said. "Once we get the follow-up MRI, we'll be able to see how he's progressing and then be able to come up with a better sense for his potential to return."
Carlos Rodón:  After receiving treatment during the All-Star break for his sprained left wrist, Rodon will play catch Saturday. His response this weekend will help dictate a plan for getting him back in the rotation, which could include a Minor League rehab start.
"We don't have a definitive timeline just yet," Hahn said.
David Robertson:  The White Sox closer, who has not pitched since July 6 due to a high strain in his left leg, said he was ready to go Friday. A few days rest seemed to alleviate the pain.
Matt Davidson:  Davidson made an appearance in the White Sox clubhouse Friday, wearing a cast on his right foot and a riding scooter to help him get around. Davidson broke his right foot on the basepaths during his one game for the White Sox on June 30, and had a screw inserted during surgery the next day. It's not known if his injury is season-ending.
"He had to have a screw put in there, had a pretty bad fracture," Hahn said. "Going to take time for it to heal and him to get back. Don't have a timeline for him either. My expectation though is that it's going to be a little while, it could be until September."
Alex Avila:  Avila was placed on the disabled list July 6 with a right hamstring strain. Per Ventura, Avila hit and ran around a little bit Friday and felt pretty good. A Minor League rehab assignment figures to be in his future before returning.
Zach Putnam:  Throwing off the mound Saturday should give the White Sox right-hander a better indication as to whether he can work back this season without surgery. Putnam was placed on the disabled list June 21 with ulnar neuritis in his right elbow.
"You're seeing from this conversation why we don't give a time frame until these guys go on a rehab assignment," Hahn said. "There is so much recovery and treatment and plateaus you have to reach prior to getting on a rehab that it really is speculative until we see he's been assigned to Charlotte or he's going to throw on this day etc."
