White Sox win challenge of close play at first

Runner safe after replay in seventh inning against Royals

CHICAGO -- White Sox manager Robin Ventura's seventh-inning challenge overturned a call that initially ruled Adam Eaton out at first with one out and the game against the Royals tied at 3.

After review, Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer was seen coming off the bag just as Adam Eaton reached on a grounder to shortstop Alcides Escobar, who checked Josh Phegley at second, before throwing to first.

The call was overturned after a review of two minutes and five seconds.

Alexei Ramirez then flied out to left and Jose Abreu struck out to end the inning.

The Royals eventually pulled out a 6-3 victory to take over the top American League Wild Card and trim their magic number to reach the postseason to one.
