Kershaw's sked might need an All-Star tweak

June 30th, 2017

ANAHEIM -- Dodgers ace is still in line to pitch next Tuesday and the following Sunday, July 9, which would make him ineligible to pitch in the 2017 All-Star Game presented by Mastercard on July 11 in Miami. But the Dodgers could potentially adjust Kershaw's schedule if he is elected by Cubs manager Joe Maddon to be the starter for the National League.
The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner has never started an All-Star Game and is set to make the NL staff for the seventh time. Kershaw's start would have to be moved to the previous Saturday, as pitchers who start the Sunday prior are ineligible to pitch in the All-Star Game.
Roberts isn't ready to look that far ahead.
"As is it stands right now," manager Dave Roberts said, "as we sit here on Thursday, his plan is to go on Tuesday. We'll kind of go from there. A lot can happen from there."
Roberts, however, also said the club will support anything Kershaw would like to do, but he said his main concern is what is good for the Dodgers in the second half of the season.

Ryu OK following comebacker
X-rays came back negative on 's foot after the lefty took a liner off his foot in the fourth inning of the Dodgers' 3-2 loss on Wednesday. Roberts said Ryu is "feeling pretty sore," and is unsure when his next start will be.
"He really pitched well last night," Roberts said of Ryu, who stayed in the game to finish 5 2/3 innings. "And for him to stick it out after getting hit on the foot says a lot about his competitiveness.
"We're very relieved that the X-rays are negative. I think within a couple days we'll make a decision. Hopefully it's not a DL situation, but we'll monitor."
Worth noting

"Kazmir was a lot better than I recall than he was before," Roberts said. "He's worked very hard to get back. There was a change in delivery to simplify things."
