Third baseman nursing right hamstring strain since Sept. 25

October 4th, 2016

NEW YORK -- Still nursing a right hamstring strain, Giants third baseman was not included on the Giants' roster for the National League Wild Card Game (ESPN, 5 p.m. PT) that was announced on Wednesday morning.
The Giants can add Nunez for the NL Division Series, which begins on Friday in Chicago against the Cubs, if they advance against the Mets. But they also had hoped to capitalize on Nunez's considerable speed against Mets starter , whose pitching motion leaves him vulnerable to basestealers. He surrendered a Major League-high 48 stolen bases this season. Nunez, the fastest Giant, stole 40 bases in 2016, including 13 in 50 games with San Francisco.
