Showalter was asked about tying Hank Bauer for third place following Friday night's victory, and he credited his players and his timing of entering the organization for the feat. His move up the record books comes during a six-game winning streak, matching the longest winning streak since Showalter became O's skipper on Aug. 2, 2010. It is the Orioles' fourth six-game winning streak under Showalter.

"He's been managing a long time," Orioles pitcher Bud Norris said. "He's going to get a lot of wins. He knows what he's doing. At [game time], there's no other guy I'd rather have back there"

Showalter has 1,290 overall wins as a big league manager -- No. 33 on the all-time list. He has the third-most wins of active managers, behind Bruce Bochy and Mike Scioscia.
