Day 3 of the Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., featured an array of trades and free-agent signings, as well as intriguing possibilities heading into Thursday.
The Angels, fresh off landing coveted Japanese two-way star Shohei Ohtani, added another strong bat to an already formidable lineup. Meanwhile, the Cardinals acquired an All-Star outfielder, and the Orioles could be on the verge of trading one of the game's biggest stars.

Angels: Less than a week after landing Ohtani, the Halos further bolstered an already strong lineup with the acquisition of Ian Kinsler from the Tigers. In exchange, the Angels sent outfielder Troy Montgomery (the organization's No. 20 prospect, per MLBPipeline.com) and right-hander Wilkel Hernandez (No. 24) to Detroit. More >

Astros: The defending World Series champions added to their bullpen on Wednesday, acquiring veteran sidearmer Joe Smith on a two-year deal. The right-hander posted a 3.33 ERA in 59 appearances last season split between the Blue Jays and Indians. More >
Blue Jays: The Jays will have an eye toward acquiring talent through Thursday's Rule 5 Draft, but Toronto could also lose some, especially with prospects such as Max Pentecost, Jordan Romano, Andrew Case and Angel Perdomo out there for other clubs to claim. More >
Braves: While they could seek a front-line starter, the Braves will likely look at adding a veteran mid-rotation type on a one- or two-year deal to bolster a group of young hurlers. "We haven't come close to anything," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. "But it would be nice. Brewers: Milwaukee saw reliever Anthony Swarzak, whom the Brewers acquired from the White Sox in a trade last July, sign a two-year deal with the Mets. The Crew is looking to add to the bullpen as well as the starting rotation, and general manager David Stearns is confident they'll achieve both objectives, even if not during the Winter Meetings. Cardinals: St. Louis wasn't able to land National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton from the Marlins, but it did find another Miami outfielder to upgrade the offense in acquiring Marcell Ozuna. The Cards get the All-Star coming off a career year in exchange for outfielder Magneuris Sierra, and pitchers Sandy Alcantara, Zac Gallen and Daniel Castano. More >

Cubs: MikeMontgomery is expected to be in the Cubs' bullpen in 2018, even though the club believes in his ability both as a starter and reliever. "I think the starting market is a little slower to develop both in free agency and in trades," said president of baseball operations Theo Epstein. "We're going to be patient. We continue to look to add pitching in the bullpen and in the rotation." More >
D-backs: The rumors surrounding Zack Greinke have been swirling. But talks surrounding the former American League Cy Young Award winner haven't gained traction, while Arizona remains hesitant on parting with its ace. Meanwhile, the Yankees have talked with the D-backs about infielder Brandon Drury, as have several other clubs. More >
Dodgers: With the goal of easing payroll obligations and minimizing luxury-tax exposure, the Dodgers may look to trade right-hander Brandon McCarthy, first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and left-hander Scott Kazmir. More >
Giants: Though San Francisco lost out in its bids for Stanton and Ozuna, the Giants are still in pursuit of offensive upgrades, and there are plenty of options still on the market. The list of names includes J.D. Martinez, Jay Bruce and Christian Yelich. More >
Indians: As has been the case in recent offseasons, the Tribe has received inquiries about starting pitching, particularly from the Cubs about right-hander Danny Salazar. But Cleveland has turned down several offers on its starters in the past, and Salazar could pose a similar scenario despite his injury history. More >
Mariners: Seattle struck a two-year deal with reliever Juan Nicasio, whom the Mariners can use as a setup man for closer Edwin Diaz. Nicasio is coming off a career season in 2017, during which he had stints with the Pirates, Phillies and Cardinals. More >

Marlins: As they continue to build for the future, the Marlins traded All-Star Ozuna to the Cardinals in exchange for outfielder Magneuris Sierra and right-handers Alcantara and Gallen. Mets: The Mets and Swarzak agreed to a two-year, $14 million deal on Wednesday. The 32-year-old right-hander had the best season of his career in 2017, posting 2.33 ERA and 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings. Nationals: As superstar right fielder Bryce Harper enters the final year of his contract with the Nationals, Washington seeks to sign the 25-year-old slugger to a long-term deal. Orioles: Discussions about a trade with Baltimore for Manny Machado picked up steam on Wednesday, with several teams reportedly making offers for the star third baseman. Orioles general manager Dan Duquette said the club is making "good progress" on what could be a franchise-altering transaction. More >

Royals: The Royals may leave the Winter Meetings without having made any moves, but Kansas City could very well be setting up deals to come. "We've done very few deals at the Winter Meetings," general manager Dayton Moore said. "But we've done quite a few deals afterward. You lay the groundwork here. That's what we do." More >
