• The Rangers promoted pitcher Chad Bell from Double-A Frisco to Triple-A Round Rock to replace Martin Perez. Bell, a 14th-round pick in 2009 out of Walters (Tenn.) State, beat Iowa, 3-1, on Tuesday by allowing one run in 5 2/3 innings.

• Double-A Frisco's Chris McGuiness went 2-for-4 in Monday's win over Corpus Christi, the RoughRiders last game before their All-Star break. McGuiness, who was acquired from the Red Sox in a trade for Jarrod Saltalamacchia two years ago, has homered six times in his last four games.
