Worth noting

• Outfielder Andres Torres was removed from Thursday's game against Colorado for precautionary reasons with soreness in his left foot after doubling in the fourth inning. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Torres was not going to play Friday, so the switch-hitter should have ample time to rest if the injury isn't serious.

• In a sign that he's going to make the Opening Day roster, Francisco Peguero played all three outfield positions Thursday night. Peguero, who's batting .354, and Cole Gillespie, hitting .244, are competing for the lone outfield vacancy on the season-opening active roster.

• Striving to diversify himself, Joaquin Arias started at first base and played six innings there. Arias, who's primarily a middle infielder and third baseman, played five games at first base for Texas in 2010.
