Worth noting

• Infielder Adam Rosales (intercostal strain) has played in six rehab games between Class A Stockton and Triple-A Sacramento and could be reinstated from the disabled list as soon as Thursday, when the A's return to Oakland for a seven-game homestand.

Once Rosales is added to the active roster, Andy Parrino is expected to be optioned to Sacramento.

• The A's entered Wednesday having scored a Major League-leading 119 runs. That's the third most runs scored in Oakland history over the first 21 games and the most since the 1996 club had 127.

• There was an umpire switch in mid-game on Wednesday. Home-plate umpire (and crew chief) Jerry Layne exited the game in the top of the fourth inning, most likely due to getting hit on his left hand by a foul ball off the bat of Derek Norris in the third inning. Second-base umpire Mike Estabrook moved behind the plate for the top of the fourth and a three-man crew was used for the rest of the game.
