Worth noting

• Dodgers right-hander Stephen Fife, on the disabled list with right shoulder bursitis, began a rehab assignment with Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday and pitched four innings. He allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Fife is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday.

"If he comes out of that OK, then that's when we'll make the decision on where we got with that," manager Don Mattingly said.

• Dodger Stadium will host two soccer matches as part of the Guinness International Champions Cup on Aug. 3, when the Dodgers are on the road to play the Cubs.

The doubleheader will feature English Premier League club Everton, Italian Serie A champion Juventus, Real Madrid of Spain and defending MLS champion L.A. Galaxy.
