Worth noting

• Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer missed his second consecutive start Saturday as he recovered from a rib strain suffered in the last play of Thursday's series opener with the Padres. Cuddyer was trying to beat out an infield grounder, and he hit the ground hard on his upper-left rib cage after colliding with Friars first baseman Kyle Blanks.

"Hopefully it'll continue to get better in days rather than weeks," Cuddyer said, pointing out that it's a different injury from the oblique strains that cost him nearly two months of the 2012 season. "Last year was not even remotely in the same area, not even remotely the same injury. It's the other side, up, in the rib cage."

Cuddyer was on the DL from May 12 through May 24 with an inflamed disc in his neck.
