• The Astros signed seventh-round Draft pick James Ramsay, a center fielder from the University of South Florida on Monday. Ramsay hit .337 with three home runs to earn All Big East honors as a junior. The terms of the contract are undisclosed.

• The last time Houston first baseman Chris Carter was in Seattle, he went 8-for-15 with three homers as the Astros took two of three in an April series at Safeco Field. He also homered against the Mariners in Houston, and his four homers against them are the most of any player this season.
