Worth noting

• Pablo Sandoval is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment with Class A San Jose as the designated hitter Friday, while no date has been set for the start of Angel Pagan's rehab assignment, Bruce Bochy said Tuesday.

"It's going to be this week, I just don't know what day," said Bochy about Pagan. The manager said Monday the team hopes to have each in action when the Giants travel to Los Angeles for a three-game series beginning next Monday.

• Every reliever in the Giants bullpen saw action Monday, so Bochy could use a long outing from starting pitcher Matt Cain on Tuesday night. Bochy said prior to the game that Sandy Rosario is the only reliever off limits Tuesday, as he threw 39 pitches in Monday's 13-inning loss.

In an emergency relief situation, Bochy said either Chad Gaudin or Tim Lincecum could pitch Tuesday night for the Giants. The starters' regularly scheduled bullpen sessions were Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
