• Triple-A Round Rock right-hander Evan Meek was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for July 15-21. He threw eight shutout innings on Sunday against Iowa in his longest outing this season.

• Before Monday's game, the Rangers hadn't gained ground in the AL West for 24 straight days. They entered the night three games behind the first-place A's.

• Adrian Beltre snapped a Rangers drought of 35 innings without a home run in the ninth inning on Sunday. The last time the team had hit a home run before then was on July 13 against the Tigers.
